Springbok Atlas has a fleet of over 160 vehicles for coach charters in South Africa and Namibia, operating in major centres in these countries. All our new luxury coaches are fitted with seat belts and are equipped with cellular telephones. All carry the safety and operating permits required under South African law.

Our fleet comprises luxury tour coaches mainly in 44-seat configuration, smaller luxury tour buses in 28 or 15-seat configuration and luxury seven seat microbuses. We also have 60-seat semi-luxury buses.
Springbok Atlas has always recognised the unique needs of operating coaches. To meet these needs our coach charter company operates its own operations and maintenance departments at its major branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Windhoek.

A rigorous system of operations and maintenance procedures are in place that ensure the coaches are kept in good condition, that drivers maintain the highest standards and that customer service expectations are met and exceeded. Coach servicing is undertaken regularly, in most cases well within manufacturers recommendations, backed by further pre-departure and checks before every bus tour.
Both full and part-time drivers used by Springbok Atlas have the required statutory license for the vehicle being driven. In addition Springbok Atlas retains the services of a driver trainer to maintain motivation and driver standards.

The use of technology, by the installation of on-board computers ("co-drivers") that control and measure on board driver performance has been implemented throughout the fleet. This provides continuous monitoring of drivers in addition to driver training. Our computer and telecommunications network enable both efficient operational management, and most importantly reliable and consistent customer service.
Springbok Atlas is a member of COASA, the Coach Operators Association of South Africa.

Insurance and Indemnity

Springbok Atlas carries extensive comprehensive passenger liability insurance cover on all vehicles operated and services arranged by it.

The increase in South African tourism and its growing importance to international tour operators, has seen increasing pressure to meet the internationally accepted practice under which, as an in-bound tour operator of tailor-made and scheduled coach and minibus tours we accept responsibility for all services arranged by ourselves.
